The Town Council of Winona Lake, Indiana met in a regular session on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in the Town Hall at 7:00 a.m.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Jim Lancaster, Joy Lohse, Sue Gooding, Terry Howie and Randy Swanson
ABSENT: Pete O’Connell, Retha Hicks, Paul Schmitt and Mitch Titus
OTHERS PRESENT: Craig Allebach, Tim Goshert
Opening
Resident Jerry Nelson opened the meeting with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approval of minutes – Lancaster motioned to accept minutes, motion was seconded by Gooding. Minutes were approved as written.

June 26, 8:00 am – Optimist Triathlon
Floor Topics: Jay Shively, a resident in the Heritage Park
subdivision, thanked the police department for their help with the cones, the
no parking zones and traffic in the garage sales that the subdivision had last
Saturday.
Resolution 2010-5-1 Authorization to Invest Funds - Gooding made a motion to table the resolution
and Lohse seconded. The Council approved
the motion 5 - 0.
Reports from Supervisors:
Goshert – Is
requesting to purchase a cherry picker.
He found a year 2000 that has a 23 foot extension. Gooding made a motion to purchase the cherry
picker for up to $1,000.00. Motion
seconded by Lohse. The council approved
the motion 5-0.
Lancaster – Talked
about the trail run and it was a successful event for everyone.
Gooding – Questioned
about whether the town had a travel policy and would like to have this
researched and get some policies together from other businesses and communities
to see what they are doing for the council to look at.
Lohse – Wanted to
follow up on a time for a joint meeting on the parking lot with the park
board. Lohse updated the council on the
LARE grant as well as a meeting that was occurring on brainstorming about
community marketing.
Allebach – Updated
the council about another committee in community marketing, a branding
committee. Also, there is a promotion
that is being worked on for the upcoming holiday season to bring people in from
the county and out of county to shop in the various communities within
Kosciusko County.
Howie – Updated the
council on the meeting Gooding and he attended with the Stonehenge Homeowners
Association. Howie brought them up to
speed on what was being done with the street and storm drainage project and the
timeline of activity to get the easements finalized. The association had a lot of questions about
CR 250 E, also.
Lohse made motion and Gooding seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0.
